All respect and recognition to the original bassist on this track, the great Nathan East, who is truly one of my very favorite bassists and a consummate professional musician and Recording Artist. The only time I saw Eric perform live was November 17, 1970, with Derek and the Dominos at Sacramento Memorial Auditorium, and I was fortunate to enjoy the performance from backstage right as the promoter was a good friend of mine. That concert was delayed two weeks due to the passing of Eric's father. November 17, coincidentally, was my father's birthday and he later passed on March 17, 2000. My mother passed just a few years later on January 17, 2004. I think of this as The Mystery of the 17's.
